A Fleeting Moment

A fleeting moment in the fabric of time
Through the years, always mine
You always wagged your tail
Even as the years made you frail
Aching for that scratch behind the ear
And your bark I still can hear
Your eyes would follow me
As adoring can be
Across the rainbow bridge you've gone
But in my heart is where you belong
We'll meet again old friend
But till then
You were a fleeting moment
That never can be stolen
From memory gone by
Till the day I die

Dickens

My dearest Dickens, it was with a sad heart that we learned of your passing.  Part of you came home to us and for that we are grateful.  What remains of your once vibrant beautiful body will lay next to all the dear Dobermans that have gone before you and where one day your daughter Piper will also reside.  You were a magnificent dog in your youth and lived a good full life, loved by all.  Even though we had to place you into a new home to make room for the next generation of champions, you were still in our hearts.  We often thought of you and wonder if you were doing okay.  You’re now free of your frail old body and we hope your soul is soaring across the rainbow bridge to beautiful meadows where you can run forever.

Autumn

My dearest Autumn,  it was with a sad heart that we had to say goodbye to you.  You were our baby from the day you were born.  You survived parvo when you were only five months old.  Went to the vet hospital 9 pounds and came home a 5 pound Ethiopian but you were always a fighter.  You competed in obedience and attained your Companion Dog title in three out of three trials.  You use to make us laugh because your ears never stood up straight until you were in your golden years.  We use to call you the Flying Nun. Even though the years made you frail, you still love to go on morning walks and at the age of 11 still participated in the Mililani Christmas parade.  I selfishly wanted you to live to the age your father passed but it was not to be.  You left us at age 13 years, 8 months and 13 days old.  I am so sorry, I couldn’t give you the extra four months to make it to your 14th birthday.  Debra said you were in pain and we couldn’t let you suffer any longer.  Run free my darling girl.  May your soul soar to great heights and may you come back to us as a beautiful red show girl.  We can always hope.  Love, Mom and Dad.

Dearest Sage, it is with a heavy heart that we had to lose you so young, only 9 and a half years of age. You were supposed to have been born on my birthday but you came 2 days early.  We had you for the first 6 years of your life on this earth.  We made you a champion but John and Elsa gave you the best 3 of the last years you had.  John gave you purpose in life and for that we are forever grateful.  I grieve for the fact that you had such a short time with people who truly loved you, but now you are at peace and no longer in pain.  Run free my dearest Aussie girl, run free.  We will all love you and remember you forever.

Lord Jared Wingate’s Pride

Lord

Lord was from the Big Island.  We wanted a show dog but as he grew, Lord turned out too short for the show ring.  He was a great watch dog, companion and a producer of four litters.  He was Autumn’s father.  Lord lived to the age of 14 in the care of Kay Abe who was to be his owner from age 6 until his death at age 14.  Lord never gained any titles but he was still a great dog.
